Volunteer Survey
The Westbrook PTO is an organization dedicated to supporting our school and enriching the lives of our students and families. Parents, teachers, administrators, grandparents, board members, and others are all welcome to be a part of our PTO! Scan our list of volunteer opportunities and then fill out our brief survey.

PTO Committees

Art Appreciation: Plan and run a hands-on activity for one day during the spring. The activity allows students to experience fine arts through questions and discussion. May complete some planning outside school hours.

Beautification: Assist with planting and caring for plants at school, change art work on the school walls, and make overall aesthetic improvements at the school. May complete projects on a flexible schedule (e.g., over the summer).

Birthday Books: Help to promote literacy by purchasing and wrapping books for the principal to give each child on his or her birthday or half birthday. Flexible hours.

Leapin' Into Literature: Read chosen books to first grade students once a week during the month of February as an alternative to students going outside for recess. (Siblings welcome)

Learning Resource Center (LRC): Help students find books they are interested in, read books to classes, check books in and out, and shelve books as they are returned. During school hours.

LRC - Book Fair: Assist students and parents in selecting and purchasing books during the LRC Book Fair in November. Day and evening hours are available. Many volunteers are needed both day and evening.

Reading Incentives: Coordinate reading programs throughout the year by collecting reading logs on a monthly basis and organizing prizes (e.g., “Book It” program) Can be completed outside school hours.

Special Lunch: Pass out vendor-provided lunches to students and assist as needed. This program takes place once a month during lunch for first graders only.

Staff Appreciation: Coordinate week-long activities in May to celebrate Westbrook staff (e.g., breakfasts, lunches, raffles, gifts). Volunteers assist with a variety of tasks. Opportunities during the school day and after.

Tasty Bites: Cut and serve small samples of fresh, in-season produce for students to try. The program encourages students to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables, especially those they may have never had.

Ways and Means: Help execute the Walk for Westbrook fund-raising event held October 6th. Many volunteers are needed to run the different stations as children walk through them. All PTO activities are possible because of funds raised through this event.  Flexible hours leading up to event, available on October 7th if possible.

Westbrook Connections: Plan social events throughout the school year. Events are typically scheduled in the evening outside school hours. Previous years' events include movies night and dance night. Planning and running these events typically occurs outside school hours.

School Supplies:  Work with School Supply vendor in purchasing school supplies, and help organize school supply when school starts.
